Westchester Lagoon Pilot Program
With the help of a Watchable Wildlife grant from the Alaska Conservation Foundation (ACF) and additional funds from ACF to support a summer intern, Audubon Alaska has begun posting an interpretive naturalist at Westchester Lagoon throughout late spring and summer. This popular recreation site within walking distance of downtown Anchorage is a great place for birding as well as other nature studies. Our naturalist is equipped with a spotting scope, binoculars and bird books and is available to answer questions about the birds you might see at the lagoon and surrounding areas. Special programs, such as bird walks, and presentations on more in-depth topics may be offered.

Audubon Alaska is partnering with the Anchorage Audubon Chapter and the Municipality of Anchorage Parks and Recreation Department to pilot this project. Check back to this website, and with the Anchorage Parks and Recreation Department summer activity guide, for more details.
